The GPH is a non-profit, 8-month innovative tour of Africa, specifically designed to increase awareness of primate conservation using the latest multi-media technology. The project aims to support conservation projects in the field, educate children on the importance of conserving primates and their environment, and teach international volunteers the skills necessary to promote and sustain primate conservation awareness. The GPH will tour Africa in 2008, in a specialised mobile workshop and will host a live and globally-interactive website, supply a team of professional & volunteers to projects and produce awareness-raising digital media through their trip in 2008. Established by the Africa Conservation Fund, Wildlife Direct uses innovative internet-based fund-raising tequniques to secure new sources of funding for conservation projects all over Africa. Wildlife Direct provides internet blog's for field projects where conservationists can talk about their work on a daily basis, publicise their aims and fundraise to a community of interested readers. Each blog is directly linked to a donations page so that readers can directly support field conservation work (with 100% of the money raised going directly to field projects). We are currently travelling through Africa, visiting some of these projects, to introduce them to this new technique, start new blogs, offer advice and write about our own experiences concerning these fantastic projects. |
